During a recent visit to Manuel Antonio, my daughter and I had a marvelous experience at one of the most original organic spas that we've seen.

After a sunny morning lounging around the hotel's pool, we were invited to Spa Uno for me to get a full facial and my daughter, a pedicure. It was truly relaxing, with amazing results. My daughter was fascinated with the treatment given to her feet and the modern color of nail polish they applied. I, in a matter of minutes, recovered the vigor and shine in my face that the morning sun had sapped away.

With a clean, sober, elegant style, this building is strategically located at treetop level in a small forest where you can see sudden, friendly visits of birds, monkeys and sloths to the gardens while you enjoy your relaxing treatments.

The attention, technique and professionalism at this spa is excellent. And the products Spa Uno uses really stand out. Organic ingredients make this spa and its brand so special. Handmade daily in small batches in a private lab by owner Molly Mc Bride, a therapist and aesthetician, plants and vegetables are the raw materials. Mc Bride calls the brand Raw Botanical. The materials are cultivated and harvested locally, purchased from local organic farmers under the properties of Fair Trade. Certified organic, these products are 100% biodegradable, made from plants and are not tested on animals (nor does Mc Bride use suppliers that engage in animal testing). A portion of proceeds is donated to local non-profit and animal-rights organizations.
